Here are the latest additions to our wide range of Southern African mineral specimens. Many are from The Kalahari Manganese Fields, colorful and attractive, these mineral specimens are some of our favorites.
Epimorph Sphalerite and Siderite after Calcite
Excellent display specimen and a striking example of an epimorph. This unusual specimen displays well and is in excellent condition. It is lustrous and really has the "wow factor". The casts are hollow and show the shape of the calcite and now dissolved that they once covered. Photos of a similar specimen with a broken casing at the bottom of the page. This mineral specimen is from the Aggeneys region Northern Cape.

Ettringite from The Kalahari Mineral Fields Northern Cape South Africa
ETTRINGITE
Ettringite is a scarce hydrated aluminium sulphate. Chemically it has a very high water content water. Crystals are usually rather small, typically less than 1cm long. It is sensitive too direct sun and an excess of moisture making good quality Ettringite comparatively rare and very difficult to obtain these days.. I was very excited to acquire these specimens when I was up at N'Chwaning Mine in The Kalahari Mineral Fields, Northern Cape, South Africa.
Metaphysical Properties
Ettringite activates more of the yin (female) qualities, yet provides emotional/physical balancing as well as giving strength and vitality to the physical body. It helps clarify situations of duality (truth/untruth).
Ettringite helps one experience the distractions of life with an open mind, to be receptive and understanding of changing emotional states, and to supplement ones knowledge with the pieces of the various puzzles. A message of Ettringite - if one loses faith in another, one will find faith in oneself. It is said to be useful in the treatment if disorders of the tendons and throat, and to support the cycles of toxic elimination.

This is specimen is just gorgeous.
The calcite cluster is lovely and filled with a bright green dioptase
inclusions. They appear slightly blue in some light and far greener in
strong lights. The piece displays beautifully and has a lovely
aesthetic balance of colors and shape. |
Dioptase 2
| This is a stunning cluster of dioptase
crystals perched atop a chrysocolla matrix. The crystals have a great
clarity and perfect points. There is some damage to one point the rest
are largely pristine. The colour, lustre and contrast of this piece means
